Begin your morning with an early game drive through Samburu National Reserve, when wildlife is most active. Return to the lodge later in the morning for a relaxed breakfast, followed by time to unwind and enjoy the campโs facilities before lunch. In the afternoon, head back into the reserve for another rewarding game-viewing experience.
You may also choose to visit a traditional Samburu manyatta (village) for a cultural encounter. While the Samburu share ancestral ties with the Maasai, they maintain distinct traditions, attire, and customs that make the experience uniquely enriching.
Samburuโs landscape is defined by striking contrastsโopen dry grasslands, scattered acacia woodlands, and lush riverine forests lining the Ewaso Ngโiro River. The reserve is famous for rare northern species often referred to as the โSamburu Special Five,โ including the gerenuk, Grevyโs zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Somali ostrich. In addition, the park is home to lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and a wide variety of other wildlife.
