Itinerary
Day 01: Nairobi - Samburu
Depart on your scheduled flight to semi arid Samburu Game Reserve. Met on arrival at the airstrip and transfer to the lodge. With its backdrop of rocky outcrops and prominent mountain ranges to the north, and its doum palms and riverine forest, Samburu has an exotic feel to it. The Ewaso Nyiro sand river runs through the reserve, making it a draw for large numbers of wildlife, including: Lion, cheetah, leopard, and many elephants. The bird life is phenomenal. Arrive for Lunch. Early afternoon at leisure. Late afternoon game drive to search for animals which are unique to this region like the long necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe, besia oryx, grevy’s zebra and the somali ostrich. Return to your lodge at sundown for dinner and overnight.
Day 02: Samburu Full Day
Morning and afternoon game drives, with opportunities to take some outstanding photographs in the morning and afternoon sunlight. As Samburu is one of the smaller parks, chances for spotting all the big game as well as species unique to Samburu such as grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe and the gerenuk are excellent. In between game drives, you can do some excellent bird watching from your lodge. Dinner and overnight.
Day 03: Departure to Nairobi
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for flight back to Nairobi.
