Bwindi Impenetrable National Park was opened to tourism in 1993 and is internationally known for its biodiversity. The park is home to approximately 348 bird species, 120 mammal species, more than 220 butterfly species, 27 species of chameleons, frogs, and geckos, and over 163 species of trees.
